A Guiding Light

Donna Dark

Principal Consultant/Owner

We specialise in guiding organisations to develop sustainable and practical

corporate governance systems.

Donna began her career as an allied health professional working in brain injury respite and aged care, and later moved into quality management roles in aged care and a sub-acute hospital (which included a residential disability service). Donna’s roles later expanded to include risk management as well as clinical and corporate governance. She has created and developed governance roles for more than fifteen years at an individual service, regional, state and national level.

Since starting her consultancy 3 years ago (Lighthouse Advisory Services) Donna has focused on helping organisations understand how to simplify their governance systems and to build in-house knowledge, skills and confidence in areas such as quality, risk and compliance. Her clients have included aged care, disability, arts and local government organisations.

Recently she has expanded her business to provide a professional development / mentoring service (Lodestar Mentoring) to quality, risk and compliance professionals, and those who want to learn more about these aspects of governance.

Donna is a lifelong learner who holds a Bachelor of Science (Human Movement Science), a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and a Master of Business Administration (with Merit). She is in the final stages of completing a Doctor of Business Administration. Donna also works as a sessional lecturer at the University of Wollongong in the MBA program for the Corporate Governance subject. Donna is also a member of the Risk Management Institute of Australia, the Internal Auditors Institute of Australia and an Illawarra Regional Advisory Committee member for the Institute of Managers and Leaders.

She lives in Balgownie (the best kept secret of Wollongong) and enjoys the views of the mountains and the sea.
